DR. DAVID HERNANDEZ, D. BS.

(Philippians 3: 12-14)

Dr. David pastors a church in Sanford, Maine.

We cannot continue to drift aimlessly in our walk with Christ. There must be a purpose and direction as we journey here on earth. Chaos and confusion will damper and dog the inattentive believer who lives day by day begging spiritual crumbs through an inconsistent devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. How can one expect to receive much when one gives little or nothing to God on a daily basis. We must strive and reach high for more of Jesus in our lives. Paul the Apostle said, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Well, not one of us can claim to have arrived at where we are supposed to be although there are many pretenders. We are all in this struggle to to obtain the prize but must remember it is Christ who takes hold of us to bring us along. Some of us however need to be dragged kicking and screaming because we are still in the immature stage. Paul continues," Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
(Is there anything you can do about yesterday? Do not carry it forward with you...let it go, stop carrying the extra baggage with you!)

I'm the type of person that must focus on one thing at a time to do well or excel. I am not one who is very good at multi-tasking.
(This is a "man thing!" I have yet to meet a man that can do, or think of doing , more than one thing at a time !)

So for me to focus on one thing is to focus on Jesus and forgetting the past hurts and looking forward to the blessings that lie ahead as I dwell in His presence. At times it takes every ounce of emotional energy to forget the past and to focus on Him. I must press, push, and pound the heavens in prayer in achieving my goal of oneness with Christ and separation from the things of this world. It is worth it. So my brothers and sisters in Christ I would encourage you to press in and press on. You will be better off for it and greatly blessed in it. Amen.

Get your mind set on the things that are really important in this life, there is nothing more important for you and me, than serving the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our hearts. He does not want want partial devotion, He deserves all of our love. Matt. 22:37 and Deut. 6:5
